Imperial Territory
The galaxy has long been defined according to considerable, geographic swaths of space, wherein lie the constituent worlds and citizenry of the Galactic Empire. These territories stand as the Imperial Sectors, geographic region of space as determined by the Imperial Institute of Cartographic Studies, at the direction of the Emperor. Imperial Sectors are comprised of a collection of Galactic Sectors, organized into an administrative hierarchy for the purposes of regional governance and defense.

Within each Imperial Sector a Moff assumes the responsibility for the disposition and application of the military forces to protect the sector, as well as being the primary political representative and arbitrator of the collective systems, worlds, and colonies within their expanse of territory. It falls to the Moff to mediate the peace, address such issues as the collection of taxes as defined by the Imperial Treasury, and to represent the needs of the populace to the Imperial High Command.
The Empire is currently composed of three Regions, each composed of two Oversectors:
- Coruscant Oversector (1st Sector), Emerald Region
- Kuat Sector (2nd Sector), Amber Region
- Corellian Sector (3rd Sector), Ruby Region
- Tapani Sector (4th Sector), Ruby Region
- Deep Core Sector (5th Sector), Emerald Region
- Corporate Sector (6th Sector), Amber Region
The map to the right shows the extent of the Galactic Empire's claim to sovereign territory, with the territory of other Imperial Union members shown in light blue. Whilst not all systems and planets within the extent of the Empire's claimed territory are directly controlled by the Empire, it is understood that any alternate arrangements for the governance of planets and systems within the Empire's claimed territory are governed through Individual Instruments of Government that remain under the ultimate jurisdiction of the Emperor and his representatives as authorised.
